@ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul The problem is municipalities ALLOWING police depts to have rules that go against the municipalities civil laws. You're paying the lawsuits. Change the rules. Make them pay the lawsuits. Make them adhere to the laws. It's not for the police to say. It's for the taxpayers to say.

@DarthPettyThot @ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul That's what municipalities need to handle. Get mad at these payouts and force a change to how your police rules work. The insurance needs to be held by the cops & unions. The full liability of their actions belongs on them. Once they become uninsurable, they can't work.

Not all of the citizenry agree with the decisions of the civil suits & will attack the awardees, & those that "vote" for those high payouts shrug their shoulders like it's not their money. Both sets of people need to seek to change the system.

@GStylFire @ESSENCE_Debates @silkysoul It's the same batch of people making these decisions. Civil jury pools are pulled from the voter rolls. Your municipality either agrees police should be able to show up in the middle of the night & murder a woman on a tip from a suspect or you don't. Make the laws & rules match.

@ESSENCE_Debates Maybe for another day but can we debate the harassing voter text and calls? Should this be legal, If I enter or say STOP should it stop all calls and text and not just the current one?

@ESSENCE_Debates @theestallion those are hard to prove unless it violates the law itself, just like it's hard to prove some hate crimes, they never think race had anything to do with but this was just a bad person

@ESSENCE_Debates No, because money does not equate to justice unless the money is used to get laws passed. Ex. where is the lobbying to outlaw no-knock warrants nationwide, to end qualified immunity, to change the thresholds for certain crimes, etc.

@ESSENCE_Debates it's giving a payoff to the people affected by the tragedy, hoping they'll look the other way or forget about it and go on a shopping spree

@ESSENCE_Debates That's sort of like holding parents responsible if their kids of any age commit a hate crime or tell others to do so. There are almost 3 billion monthly FB users. It would be impossible to monitor each one. They have bots, keyword searches, and even humans scouring content 24/7.
