Join us tonight for “An Evening with Charles Blow” at Ruby Diamond for the final day of the 31st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Week programming. The event is free for all, doors open at 6pm and the event will begin at 7pm.

Tallahassee has a rich history of activism. Join the MLK Week committee by engaging in dialogue about Tallahassee and the people who were at the forefront of change during the civil rights movement tonight at 5:30pm in the Claude Pepper Center. Refreshments provided. #FSUMLKWeek

Dorothy Foreman Cotton worked to educate African-American communities on the importance of action for change. #FSUMLKWeek

Coretta Scott King, the "First Lady of the Civil Rights Movement" was well-known for her contributions to continue her late husbands work and broadened the scope to include various human rights. #FSUMLKWeek

Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King were posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the nation's highest civilian honor in 2014. #FSUMLKWeek

President Carter presented the Medal of Freedom to Coretta Scott King on July 12,1977 on behalf of her late husband, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. #FSUMLKWeek

Martin Luther King dreamt that all inhabitants of the United States would be judged by their personal qualities and not by the color of their skin. He received the Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent campaign against racism. #FSUMLKWeek

In response to criticisms of the Birmingham Campaign, Dr. King composed a letter from jail, which would be known as 'Letter from Birmingham Jail', defending the strategy of nonviolent resistance to racism. #FSUMLKWeek
