Listrodomus necthemerus. Finally managed a decent picture of this which has been active around an evergreen spindle tree in my SE London garden. This ichneumon wasp is a parasitoid, its sole host species being the holly blue butterfly which I see often here.

@ianballam They're usually a challenge to photograph, aren't they.

It's been great to discover the Blue Mason Bees (Osmia caerulescens) in my SE London garden over the past week. Finally managed some decent pics of male (left) and female (right).

Look at this beefy beetle: A Variable Longhorn (Stenocorus meridianus) clumsily bounces through the grass at Hutchinson's Bank, 23 May.

4 Spotted Chaser and Broad-bodied Chaser females from 2 recent outings in Kent

Hypericum Rhopalid (Rhopalus subrufus), Red-headed Cardinal Beetle (Pyrochroa serraticornis), Hooded Clean-up Fly (Dryomyza anilis) and Phantom Crane Fly (Ptychoptera contaminata) as I walk about photographing red animals.

Superb ichneumon Amblyteles armatorius on a pause in his regular early morning circuits of the garden. Enjoyed the company of 3 of these beauties earlier while checking the moth trap. Told from similar wasps by a spine in front of the waist just visible through the wing here 💛🍃

If you were one of the many butterfly/insect enthusiasts that visited Hutchinson's Bank, Surrey this weekend and you walked from Farleigh Dean Crescent along the track to the bank you will have seen silk strings of Spindle Ermine (Yponomeuta cagnagella) hanging down

Grey-backed Snout (Rhingia rostrata). Formerly quite scarce and this is my first encounter with this Hover Fly, seen approaching Germander Speedwell, at Bredhurst Fields, Kent.

Narcissus Bulb Fly (Merodon equestris). A bumble bee mimic, seen here with a Common Carder Bee among the Bird's-foot Trefoil at Hutchinson's Bank, this morning.

A first for my SE London garden: 16-spot Ladybird (Tytthaspis sedecimpunctata) landed on me while I was relaxing in the garden late pm yesterday.
