Check out the recent paper: “α-Fluoroamines: Myth or Reality?”, co-authored by Vadym Levterov, Oleh Shablykin, Oleksandr Stashkevych, Volodymyr Kokhalskyi, Vadym Konashuk, Iryna Sadkova, Olha Shevchuk, Petro Borysko, and Pavel Mykhailiuk. In this study, it is shown that the minimal structural modification - incorporation of the CH2-group - of the elusive α-fluoropiperidine provides a stable α-fluoroamine. This previously nonexistent chemical compound class has been comprehensively studied, characterized, and used in a medicinal chemistry project. Read more: chemrxiv.org/doi/full/10.26…

We are excited by the recent work of  Phil S. Baran  and co-authors disclosing a general redox-neutral platform for radical cross-coupling that significantly streamlines C–C bond construction (lnkd.in/dhHr53Tk). Using sulfonyl hydrazides as both radical precursors and internal electron donors, the method eliminates the need for external chemical, photochemical, or electrochemical redox inputs. The platform delivers versatile C–C bond formation with olefins, alkyl and aryl halides, redox-active esters, and trifluoromethylating reagents under simple, homogeneous, water-tolerant conditions. Bench-stable sulfonyl hydrazides enable reactivity comparable in practicality to Suzuki couplings — while eliminating the need for external redox systems. This work has inspired Enamine to expand our portfolio of building blocks for redox-neutral radical couplings. Is cyclopropane really that innocent in the gold-catalyzed cycloisomerization of 1-bromoalkynes? 🧐 In our attempt to synthesize new bromocyclopentenes bearing a cyclopropane ring, we found that the reaction was strongly inhibited. Check it out ⬇️
