The roads/streetlights are still missing, but this little neighborhood make me feel confident that I can actually build the game I have in mind, and that feels good.

@HighGame_Dev There is #issuecomment-4081521950" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/godotengine/go… which reworks ssil and adds ssaovb, which makes them both better if you only enable ssil.

I just hope that HDDAGI or any other realtime GI (other than SDFGI) will be added to #Godot soon.
But just with a good combination of SSAO and SSIL, man... this render engine is amazing for the performance it delivers 💖

For my map, I place the props using GeoNodes, export them as JSON, then Godot reads the coordinates and builds the meshes with their different LODs/Shaders and collisions using custom resources. (I also have an option to bake the occlusion culling for buildings) #Godot #indiedev

@kretschmer_izo Yes ! But since my models are below 500 faces it’s fun and relaxing to paint everything myself

@HighGame_Dev In Blender, you also have the option to bake highlights as vertex colors into the mash and then refine them further. This makes everything much easier since you don't have to draw everything yourself.

They really bring the models to life without any extra effort or additional textures (I also use them to bake the AO on my car models)

@Foyezes Mine is technically "deferred" (if that's the right word 😭) since I switch between the two programs using json files, but as a map editor having Blender's tools available is sooo great for specific cases !

Since we’re a two-man team (Programmer & Artist) I couldn’t just keep making cars forever, there are other parts of the game that need love, too!
And I’m finally taking over the environment art. The store assets served us well for teaser shots, but it’s time for our city to have its own unique look (WIP)
