Most people don't understand what truly matters in life until they go through a life-threatening experience, or watch someone they love go through one.

Whether you are confident is decided by the sum of all the actions you take on a daily basis. And neuroscience proves this: Anxiety is not created by a character trait. It is merely a scenario that is highly pessimistic and volatile, typically characterized by the fear of a catastrophic outcome. And that prediction is always worse than objective reality. Every time you choose inaction and elect to wait, you reinforce this thought loop. There is no closure. That tension can only be released through action.

Elon Musk fell into depression as a teenager. Nietzsche made it worse. He tried to solve despair with philosophy. It only trapped him deeper in his head. Then imagination did what analysis couldn’t. Here are Musk's secrets that will change how you see anxiety-forever: 🪡 1. You need a world bigger than your pain.

The older I get, the more I realize the power of always having something on the calendar you're excited about. It can really be anything. Difficult physical challenge, big project, fun trip, ambitious goal, whatever. It creates energy and gets you through the lows. Life hack.

If you enjoy "connecting the dots" about life, becoming a parent is an essential piece of the puzzle that no amount of thinking, conversations, or experiences can replace. If I were to give one piece of advice about "writing" to my former self, it would be along the lines of: get your basic finances in order, buy a healthy lifestyle, marry someone you look forward to talking to every day, and have kids you look forward to teaching every day, that's where you will find the depth of perspective you're looking for.

Major cheat code for life: Master the art of the fresh start. From a bad morning. From a bad interaction. From a missed workout. From a poor decision. The goal isn't to avoid the fall. It's to shorten the time between the fall and the reset. Fast recovery compounds.

It's Saturday and my parents are coming over to hang out. They'll play with my son. We'll have dinner. I'll sauna with my dad. I wish someone had told me that nothing improves quality of life more than proximity to people you love. It’s worth more than any job will ever pay you.

Anxiety is also the gap between the talent you currently have and the talent you know you could have had with more self-discipline and self-respect.

Younger parents tend to ask my parents for advice. I've condensed some key points over the years. Run these psyops on your children: - You are gifted intellectually - You can unlock your supreme athleticism. - Work diligently on skills and education that nobody can take away from you. That is the secret to everlasting confidence. - You are the type of person who can achieve whatever you want when you discipline yourself to work for it – It does not just happen. - You have an unending capacity to work, you are not lazy. - You set your standard. Others are to fit in with you. - Never worry about making friends, once you truly get comfortable being alone, people are drawn to you. - Everything is a skill. You can learn anything; anything becomes more interesting the more you learn about it. - Whatever you're interested in, be excellent in your chosen path. You will be supported. - Genius is a state accessible to you. - Nobody has the right to disrespect you, even at your young age. In any room you find yourself in, you have valuable contributions. They have inherent valuable because the words come through someone like you. - Do not shrink yourself. You deserve to take up space. - You can come to me for anything, even if you think I'll be upset – which I might be. But with me, you can unburden your conscience with the truth. I'm with you always. I will always be the fortress that supports you until my dying days; and when I'm gone, gaze upon the spread of the heavens. Know that I support you still.

The ability to stay focused when things aren't fun is the real talent. Deep learning is often boring, repetitive, frustrating. The fun part is witnessing your growth day after day. You just need the discipline to show up regardless of your mood. You just need to respect yourself.

Be mindfully patient. Because even if you got it ALL today you wouldn’t know what to do with it. The journey forges the person that can handle the chaos that having it all comes with. Just look at lottery winners 5 years after they win.
