This weeks #ThistleThursdays theme is Great Halls 🏰 Our 'Great Hall' is known as the Armoury Hall because of the impressive 1300 strong display of weaponry and armour on show - designed by the 11th Duke in 1953, last used in warfare at the battle of Culloden. @historic_houses

The eerie atmosphere centres on the elaborately carved bed, on which, legend suggests, a young Irish harpist was murdered by the Duke of Montrose’s men in 1644. Legend has it that when the bed was moved to the present castle, his spirit came too! #FeatureFridays @Historic_Houses
