It’s Basic Documentary

"If you're on welfare, the minute you make some income, they'll take away your food stamps, they'll take away your housing assistance. It's impossible to save money and become independent, so a lot of single parents feel trapped... The difference it makes to get $500 a month [in basic income] is freedom, to avoid eviction, getting your electricity cut off. It's given us a chance to take our lives back." That is how Porchia Willis described her lived experience as a welfare recipient and then a basic income pilot participant in the documentary film @ItsBasicDoc.
