Yale Budget Lab Exec. Dir. @marthagimbel on the shrinking appeal of U.S. debt: "We are currently the boyfriend at the beginning of the Hallmark movie in the big city, where the girlfriend is still going out with him even though she knows that it's wrong."

Scoop: USTR is set to announce new 301 investigations today into excess industrial capacity, forced labor, digital service taxes and other issues, as the administration works to replace tariffs struck down by the Supreme Court. With @tylerpager nytimes.com/2026/03/11/bus…

I don’t like the blanket question of whether AI is improving exponentially. Exponentially with respect to what measure? Something can change exponentially on one dimension and slowly on another.

I would add: 3. Not good tax policy if you don't adjust other parts of the system for inflation, most importantly reducing people's interest deduction to only real interest--no longer allowing deductions for the inflation component of interest.

Paramount used its White House ties to kill Netflix's buy out of WB, and now the admin is pressuring firms to divest from Anthropic to keep government contracts. This is royal court politics, bordering on oligarchy. A disaster for democracy, free markets and consumers

Nvidia, Amazon, Google will have to divest from Anthropic if Hegseth gets his way. This is simply attempted corporate murder. I could not possibly recommend investing in American AI to any investor; I could not possibly recommend starting an AI company in the United States.
