After family challenges and time away from school, Ollie joined Ladder with some goals. He’s now completed a TAFE electrical course, secured a casual job and working towards an apprenticeship. Ollie’s story is proof that with the right support, determination can spark real change

Having people in your corner changes everything. Ladder has been a safe space for Jachery, a place for ongoing support, confidence building and meaningful opportunities. When you know you’re backed, the future already feels a lot brighter.

Maya’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible with the right support. Through Ladder, Maya built confidence, found her voice, and discovered a pathway that led to a new school environment and a traineeship in early childhood education. We’re so proud of you, Maya!

In celebration of their hard work, resilience and achievements throughout the year, we recently rewarded our alumni with a day out to Gumbuya World. The day was a meaningful opportunity for everyone to reconnect, reflect and enjoy time together.

Participants recently visited TAFE Gippsland’s Yallourn campus for a hands-on introduction to future training and career pathways. A bricklaying activity as part of their Construction Certificate sparked real interest, with one young person submitting an EOI to study in 2026.

Industry tours enable our participants to discover new employment and volunteer pathways while connecting with their community. Our visit to the Latrobe Valley Living facility offered a hands-on look at careers in the aged care sector and moments spent engaging with residents.

Congrats to Ladder Alumni Ryan and Joshua on completing their certificates at @TAFEGippsland They couldn’t make graduation because of work and job trial commitments. We were proud to step in on their behalf and grateful for the amazing feedback about both of them and our program

Cooking, connection, and confidence - all in one bowl of spaghetti bolognese! Participants worked together from purchasing ingredients to cooking a dish, learning how to make a healthy, low-cost meal while strengthening their teamwork, independence and social skills.
