This is even crazier because the original Hollow Knight was made entirely by dudes who quit their jobs and had to get other people to buy lunches for them.
They put their everything into the game because they were going to lose everything if the game was a faiure

@BBear_Studio I don't think anybody would think twice about entering NF with 30k wishlists. Most games never get close to that.

One marketing mistake I made was using my Steam Next Fest too early.
I joined February's Fest with 30k wishlists and low momentum and gained about 3k.
Looking back, saving it for June with 120k wishlists and much stronger momentum would likely have produced a far better result.

I'd try 30-50% off in the summer sale for a start. I'd also redo anything AI assisted so you can get rid of the AI disclosure completely. It will put some people off immediately.
You NEED to get Steam deck verified. Are you considering a Switch or PS release? This is clearly a game for handhelds and consoles.

So my game flopped after 3 years of work...😢
Since its release on May 26th, I've sold 77 copies... Streamers and curious gamers loved it.

What Fable will do is flood the market with AI-made mini games.
We already have tons of mini games on mobile, and no one pays for them.
I mainly see the demand for bigger, high-quality, handcrafted games increasing in the future.

I don't know if people realize how valuable retweeting indie developers is. It can add 100s of wishlists to an indie game, which can accumulate to mean the difference between a developer being able to finish a game and forcing them back into a 9 to 5 job.
