As it should have been conceded. Proseuchomai does not mean communicate mystically via a unique means. It simply refers to an asking that’s reserved for God (because only God can do it) while the other asking can be to others for their prayers to God.

I apparently wasn't clear enough. So, let me expound:
- “Pray” does not mean “ask” in every context
- Once JP allowed “pray” to be flattened to nothing more than “ask,” Alex could simply produce examples of human petition. The debate was essentially over at that point.
- The real question — whether Scripture supports directing the fuller sense of prayer (reverent, dependent, spiritual communication) to saints — never truly got addressed.
- A stronger debate strategy would have been to contest the definition of “pray” upfront rather than conceding the narrow sense used commonly by EO/RC apologists.

I watched the debate between Alex Sorin and JP for a while (it's currently still ongoing as I write this). The biggest mistake JP made was allowing Alex to define the word "pray" as merely "ask." As soon as that happened, the entire debate fell apart. Pray and ask are not interchangeable in this conversation. This is exactly where the real debate lies on praying to saints. "Pray" involves submissive, spiritual communication to a higher power. The EO/RC position relies on this stripped-down definition — reducing it to just "ask." A stronger tactic would have been proving from Scripture how "pray" (in its biblical usage) is reserved for God alone.

Out of all the lies the RCC tells, the claim "We gave you the Bible" might be the biggest.
Of course, if that were actually true, they would follow it. But they reject Sola Scriptura and claim that their own traditions are just as authoritative as God's word.
