@DefaultDNB And even with SD access, you could not play the game without an SD inserted, so it's not an option anyway. if I downscale the images to 100x62, it gets reduced by half but they look like this xD

@DefaultDNB There's a big issue with CTR SDK: You can't use SDMC on retail, only dev kits. For the images I compress the byte data to RGB565 and then apply RLE to reduce the alloc. I store them in a custom format.

Okay, I'm facing the first tech wall in #PokemonSnap3DS. Even with my compression algorithm, 64 pictures at 400x240px (top screen resolution per eye) takes 0.95MB of storage. The N3DS has just 1MB of save data space :') How tf do I save all the album + the rest of the game data?

Obviously it's not just the compressed pixel bytes but also the metadata with score, the Pokémon, etc...

@CaptainN_DK You can start the game, see the splash screen, change game settings, start a new game or continue with previous saved data, go to the main menu, talk to Oak, select course and go to the selected level. All of that “gameplay” is actually “menu”.

@DefaultDNB There’s a lot more not so “visible” unfortunately. Yesterday I was struggling with my snapshot algorithm because for some reason the rendered texture doesn’t get pixels correctly :,) almost 3 hours trying to understand why on editor it works perfectly but not on 3DS. :,)

@_mintmori Frustrum culling is not enough either. I will need to manually be activating chunks of the scenario + dynamic actors through triggers, unfortunately 😭
