@janufooty For a team that scored so much I was expecting them to create a lot more chances.

PSG's press is ferocious and was in fine form in the first half, but Bayern were too hell bent on trying to attract PSG up the pitch and playing over them They had elaborate and evident set-up headers and tons of men around the first receiver of the long ball So it was planned

@ftblmenac Depends imo, think in his latter Madrid years he did have a much more balanced team. From 2009-2015 Messi played in a better team, no doubt. But those Barca teams 2016-2019 were kinda mid and reliant on individuals.

One of the reasons why when I’m in a discussion with someone about Ronaldo and Messi and people bring up the teams or teammates, I stop partaking immediately. No way if you watched both of them in their primes would you come out and say Ronaldo had a better team or teammates

Real Madrid's build-up in that game.

@ftblmenac I think maybe teams are just so good at pressing now. Even the GK gets no time on the ball.

@Maxfluidity I agree. But even the distribution from these gk’s this season has been horrendous. Even Neuer’s ball playing abilities haven’t been impressive

Also, one thing I’ve clocked from this ucl knockout games is how there are lack of elite goalkeepers in the game rn. No big team actually has a good goalkeeper except maybe Madrid when Courtois is fit.

@THFC__Cam England won’t win the World Cup. But Bayern have a great chance at the treble and for Kanes legacy in football that is good enough.

The champions league is a measure of how good a team is in both boxes. So Barca missing Raphinha arguably their most ruthless attacker, maybe the writing was already on the wall to begin with, because the defence was never going to give any favours.

Hansi Flick has done a great job at Barcelona. He has rejuvenated the club to a level of being a world class team again. But will he win the champions league in his reign, I think it’s a coin toss. Needs more clinical attackers and PnP in the side.

When Barca miss a lot of chances like in the 1st leg vs Atletico. It almost gives these opposition a free hit at get a decent lead in the tie. So if Barca are to win the champions league with flick, they must be super ruthless in attack. Because the high line will leak goals.

Flicks Barca have easy and very exploitable weaknesses. But he’s willing to give you that in exchange for the offensive upsides. This gamble will always lean in Barca favour over a league campaign. But in later knockout rounds, it becomes more 50-50.

Really don’t like the Barcelona high line, especially on nights like this. The defenders don’t have the decision making for it and seem to cost them dearly. This is more of an issue rather than a ucl ‘curse’ .

Pep is amazing at finding a goal source in the runs in. Often comes from an unlikely player too.

Gundogan in 2023, Gvardiol in 2024 and now Nico O’Reilly in 2026. Players stepping up when it matters most.
