What a great day @mehms! Today, students were engaged in a lab in @MrsRothScience’s and Ms. Von Elmendorf’s class as well as Ms. Phillips class! I also saw some great reflection and dialogue in @clarebournigal’s and @bjenkinsmehms’s class! What a fun day! @VKHardy@FCCPS
Robotics at Meridian High School never rests…last week a School Board Presentation, this week we are leading recruitment meetings with all 8th graders. Thanks to @MrsRothScience and Ms. Phillips for helping us share! #ChargedUp@FIRSTChesapeake
Mr Courtney who serves as Deputy to the Chief Science and Innovation Office @NatGeo visited with some of my science students @mehms to discuss examples and applications of #biomimicry. We’re lucky @FCCPS to have such a knowledgeable parent community.
The sound of collaboration and student agency in action in @MrsRothScience! Students shared info about scientists they had researched to demonstrate their understanding of how the atom has changed over time. This is what we call a “fun”-ative, a fun summative! @IB_in_FCCPS@mehms
What do you do when you to know 5 atomic theorists for 8th grade science? Work collaboratively! Getting our Criterion D research experts together in 8th grade scientist to share our knowledge @mehms@IB_in_FCCPS@FCCPS 👨🔬
In my last interview with Lavel Davis Jr., I asked why he was a part of the Groundskeepers at UVA, a group pushing for social change. His words, read now, bring tears to my eyes.
Over the last three years, 400+ students filled my classroom with joy. laughter, & crazy stories. Just as my time at @FCPSHayfieldSS began with the Class of 2022, it also ends with their graduation.
It was a extremely difficult decision but I am excited to join @MeridianMstangs
