A new student who works with nanopipettes has really bad eyesight and was having trouble filling the small devices with fluids. My other student 3D printed a funnel as a X’mas present to help her 👏😭 Innovation at its finest with kindness, I’m so proud.

Hey twitter! I'm defending my Ph.D. in Chemistry this week! 🤯😎👩‍🔬(Thursday at 1 pm CT to be exact). I don't know as many of you on here, but if anyone is interested in attending virtually, message me and I'll send you a zoom link.

Wow! Walking up to so many responses is amazing! These ligands were not native during synthesis, but were exchanged afterwards. The NC is fairly large due to the shell (~7.7 nm diameter). 90 eq. of ligand was added though so I expect a fair amount on the surface.

Okay nanocrystal community, I have a question/debate. Do you think this ligand would be bent over (closer to the surface) or forced more upright? The QDs are CdSe/CdS. This ligand and QD were used previously: pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.102… but I'm using them again. Excuse my ugly pic.

Hey #chemtwitter, how do you stay motivated when you are nearing the end of a paper and are getting tired of editing your own work again and again?

We as a nanocrystal community really need to clarify whether we mean 'diameter' or 'radius' when we are talking about the size of a nanocrystal or labeling a figure. I am not going to remeasure your TEM images.😂

Another shameless promotion since Laura isn't on Twitter, this time focused on research from the Wasielewski group @NUChemistry in @JPhysChem. This work focused on the effects that having two identical acceptors has on charge and spin dynamics. pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.102…

A bit late, but I am excited to share two papers I'm on from the Schaller group that use time-resolved XRD to study thermal properties of nanocrystals. pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.102… pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art… @nanobrumberg is first author and gave a lovely description of both articles!

I’m very excited to be presenting in this series! I’ve really enjoyed getting to see all the exciting new research on nanocrystals!

The worst part is, I want to make it 50/50. I'm a woman in science and I want to boost other women. So I'll keep looking, I'm determined. I know how important representation is. I'm reminded of when I went to MRS in 2019 and was often saddened by the lack of women at the talks.

A short sad tale: Oh I see that @nanoGe_Conf is calling for new symposia, I should make one! They say that the percentage of female speakers should be at least 20%, that shouldn't be hard Nine speakers added to the list and I haven't found one woman scientist to add Unacceptable
