In Rhode Island, scientists successfully reduced damage from the invasive lily leaf beetle by using carefully tested biological control. This beetle attacks true lilies and fritillaries. As the biocontrol was established, beetle populations declined, and damage to lilies dropped.

The greater banded hornet (Vespa tropica) is not known to be established in Hawaiʻi, but it poses a serious risk if introduced. 👀 If you think you’ve seen one, take a photo and report it immediately to 643pest.org.
