@FendiMandela @skippcoon I def can believe that. What I mentioned offhand to @skippcoon years ago still rings true. People don’t want parity. They just don’t want to be on the wrong side of disparity. To live in relative luxury means a lot of folks have to live in abject poverty.

@stroopwfafel But that’s not really true. It has never been proven that police prevent crime. That’s not their job. They respond to it. Healthy communities stop crime, and police are not a significant factor in creating healthy communities.

Here is something I don’t understand: how does the recent spike in violent crime undermine calls to defund or abolish police? Clearly, the police cannot solve the problem or they would have done so already. Am I wrong?

Also, I am very tired of people (some in, mostly around) Jackson decrying the murder rate. You don’t care if we have jobs, water, fully funded schools, a viable public transit system, living wages, access to health care, etc. Why do you care about this?
