Atoms don’t sit still, even in the smallest materials. A new RASEI story looks at how tiny rearrangements inside nanocrystals (“atomic musical chairs”) can help scientists understand how materials work and how they might support more energy‑efficient technologies over time.

RASEI Graduate student Ben Hammel, a member of the Dukovic Group, participated in the CU Boulder 2026 3MT competition last week. Ben was one of 11 graduate students who presented, which made for an evening of exciting and interesting stories.
