What actually happened was that it was a harmless term that originated from Star Wars cause this is what the Clones called the droids.

Maybe a hot take, but our perception of animals is deeply rooted in colonialism. One animal is not better or “more evolved” than the other. Nor are insular/island species of animals inept or weak. Each animal is well adapted to their environment prior to human modifications.
