extra: The Kamo clan was an elite hereditary onmyōji family during the real heian period and historically commanded spirits/shikigami (which honestly makes me wonder why the zenin clan are the ones with ten shadows rather than them) its most likely bc the kamo clan creator in the story (Emperor Sutoku, one of the big three vengeful spirits) has a story of him biting his tongue and writing a curse in his own blood on a scroll, vowing to become a demon that would overthrow the emperor and the nation ss taken from fanbook btw

extra: oh yeah btw there TECHNICALLY is a real life jujutsu tech in japanese history, its whats referred to as the Onmyōryō, which is government bureau established and peaked during the Heian Period The government hired specialists called Onmyōji. Just like Jujutsu Sorcerers, their official civil service job was to read omens, manage calendars, perform divination, and cast state-sanctioned magical rituals to ward off evil spirits and plagues The Onmyōryō even operated a highly restrictive, state-funded school to train young students in the occult arts before they became official government agents, exactly like the JujuTech Branches.

Honestly I find Mai's involvement with the relationship between them interesting too, Its highly likely Mai was sent to Kyoto to keep her stifled politically especially since she doesnt have the potential to be promoted as high as maki because of her prowess. By separating the twins, Naobito achieved isolation from Maki's rebellious exterior, making it so Mai wouldnt be influenced to rebel, he also made it so neither twin could ever amass enough power or status to challenge the clan leadership (because he knows one of them dying would cause the other to be stronger.) They purposefully don't give Mai cursed tools or anything to compensate for her inefficent cursed technique because of her low energy, and like i keep mentioning in previous threads she likely got her guns from government-sanction (or other private means) rather than the clan itself. Naobito forced both of them to a destiny specifically designed to keep them weak and dependent on the clan, but Maki stood above that. (2/2)

I dont know why people say that Maki and Naobito are fine with each other during Shibuya, bc they literally aren't 🧵 The entire reason why Naobito was in the Shibuya Incident was to ensure she wouldn't be promoted because he wants to stifle her growth Even if she performed flawlessly, he possessed the authority to deny her advancement because shes rebellious When he said he would make her life hell he was not lying at all, she has to rely on dorm housing, other clans for cursed tools (before perfect prep), and has to deal with certain restrictions under her life because of lack of freedom and control under Naobito (1/2)
