Although we support age verification I’m actually opposed to the idea of it. I don’t think it’s wise or safe to ask people to send their id to lots of different services who will have different processing and data retention policies. How can you be sure they stick to what they say? How many times have there been data breaches and leaks across different providers? After age verification there’s no way to ensure that the person who verified is the same person using the headset. After checking out every possible provider we went with Yoti as they seemed to be the most trustworthy and privacy focused. It’s only required on our platform if you want to create and join rooms for verified adults. We never see or store any information, the verification is handled by Yoti and all our backend receives is a bool to confirm if you passed the age check.

And that's ladies and gentlemen is truth. Not spoken by me (even though I was telling it all along) but by others. Oversexualizingn everything in VR is wrong. Letting kids be inside of such apps and letting them see it is wrong. VRCHat closing their eyes on this topic is WRONG and should be properly questioned. This problem is so deep and profound that it damages kids and also Social VR in general. Everyone will be associating Social VR with this now. They already do btw, but now it's going to be everywhere. It damages kids, it damages our industry and I won't stay quite even if people will think I am doing it because I run Somnium. No, I am doing it because what's happening in VRChat is f*ucking disgusting and their management and investors are complicit if they allow this to happen. Again, VRChat by not solving this problem damages kids and my own beloved industry, and I will do everything I can to protect both.

To be clear, our company's style niche is anime style avatars but we cater to the largest creators and some of the large companies in the world, Disney, etc. Most of our Vket Exhibitors vary and it's everything from pure realism (even more than your logo would suggest) to full on robots.

Cool! Anime style only? And I have to go back to the website each time to change my avatar? That's great if that works for you! But I can assure you many casual/less technical users appreciate our genuine low friction/ease of use platform :) As I said, for the right users we're a much better alternative.

I'm sure it's great! Not quite how you describe it as polished. - Dress codes you need to manually enforce? - 18+ verification that requires a monthly subscription? - How many layers of menus/UI do you have to go through to find an instance? What's the experience like as a new user? We've hosted many events on VRChat over several years, we're very familiar with how much the UX sucks. From clicking on StageTime to being in a room with other people takes <15 seconds - and that's on a standalone headset. You can create and customise your identity directly in app Sims character creator style - far more accessible and personal. Sure both can coexist. But for the right people, StageTime is much better :)

@StageTimeVR Nothing against your platform but @failedtorender is in VRChat and there are INCREDIBLE live events in there too. Both can exist. Avatar "dress codes" are also a thing in vrchat, with 18+ instances baked in too. It's hard to compare with the VAST freedoms and polish it has.
