you guys literally think that if you print a billion dollars and make something called the “Screwworm Prevention Initiative” this will magically and certainly solve the problem. can government programs accomplish their goals? sometimes, yeah. are they often a complete waste that fail to do anything except continuing to try to justify their own existence? also yes. i’m not a screw worm expert. but the idea that a few additional government staff could stop a bug from getting into a country the size of the US (when we already have customs and border control whose entire job is to do this) sounds dubious. you of course swallow this concept whole with zero doubt in your mind because it’s a government program named after something that sounds good to you, so of course it must be a really good and essential thing
