Garry Marshall once said, "We won't steal your writing, but we will steal your life." It's true. We write about people we know & what happens to them. We wonder if they'll recognize themselves & get mad. Or like it?Sometimes it's so obvious, yet people don't see it's about them.

One of my contrarian takes: Society peaked in the 80s, and it’s been in slow decline ever since. It was the last era of widespread optimism. You can feel it in the music and movies. “Excess meets innocence.” The 80s also mark the end of the analog world—local economies, in-person everything, and a certain forced simplicity. Malls, movie theaters, magazines, and BMX. Then, beginning in the 90s, came the tidal wave of tech: Mobile phones The internet Social media AI All incredible innovations, with lots of positives. But on the whole I think they’re *net negatives* for society. We replaced a finite, real-world experience with an infinite, digital one. Infinite information. Infinite comparison. Infinite distraction. Human’s aren’t wired for that, and you can see the consequences all around us.

NEW: Kentucky family rejects $26 million offer to convert part of their farm into a data center despite the offer being about 10 times the going rate for farmland in the area. "If it's my way, I'll stay and hold and feed a nation. 26 million doesn't mean anything." "As long as I'm on this land, as long as it's feeding me, as long as it's taking care of me, there's nothing that can destroy me if I've got this land." Video: Local 12 WKRC

I’m embarrassed asf to post this, but HELP. How do I make this stop? I clean it for her, it still ends up like this.. she cleans it, she cries about it and it still ends up like this.. I’m OVER it. I tried grounding her. Taking electronics. Cleaning it for her. Helping her clean it. & NOTHING.PHASES.HER. She genuinely doesn’t care. I told her yesterday “if your room doesn’t get cleaned today, you’re grounded” she looked at me and said “ok? I don’t care.” I even asked to remove it because once a person came to us for an order that they ordered from my store, Tedooo app, it was such a shame that the buyer accidentally saw it. We don’t live nasty. Our house is always spotless. HOW DO I GET MY GrandKID TO JUST KEEP A CLEAN DANG ROOM? She’s 8 if that makes any difference for any type of tips, ya girl is tired.........

@LukeBarnett Yep. It's ridiculous. Our food supply is so tainted. And we aren't crazy when we try something from our childhood and think it doesn't taste as good. Because it's not the same anymore.

@sharpeyes @VigilantFox My son's high school still had one as recently as 2019. None of them killed anyone. We need to address the root cause in addition to following the common sense laws already on the books.

Young conservative woman picks apart MSNBC contributor’s claim that more guns = more gun violence TIM MILLER: “I think it’s basically the guns.” WOMAN: “First of all… almost 50% of all homicides caused by guns are in cities where the gun per capita is much lower.” “Secondly, I’d like to bring up that from the 1990s to the early 2000s, we had a major decrease in homicides by guns, but we had an increase of guns by nearly 50%.” MILLER: “We had an assault weapons ban during that time.” “The pro-gun side in this country is always trying to cut and dissect the demographics down… The only reason you can do that kind of statistics is that we have so many fricking gun deaths in this country.” “I don’t know why we have to come up with other convoluted reasons why we have all these deaths in this country.” WOMAN: “First of all, I think that fatherless homes is a big part of it… 76% of people who commit violent acts come from fatherless homes.” “Additionally, I think a second problem that we have is releasing criminals back into the street. It’s our criminal justice system.” “The majority, 76% of people who cause violent crimes in the United States have a criminal record of some sort.” “So we need to stop releasing people back to the streets.” TIM MILLER: “I agree.”

@jayson_smiley I think most of us in this category get this. It's even more brutal now. Have to go balls to the walls. No playing it safe. And pray. Cause you still gotta find that needle in the haystack.

BREAKING IN AT 40+ I’m tempted to do a vid, as I got signed first time at 40. What is see is older writers making it harder for themselves, during hella contraction, for no reason. Vid would be a blood bath, controversial, offensive, but viewed as intended, more optimistic than STAGNATION. For example: You don’t have much time left to “make it.” Not like the 23 year olds breaking in as I type this. Real talk isn’t fun, but it’s real. 😘

@redheadranting I’d say 3. The man is carrying the weight of the “heavy load” and the woman is sharing the umbrella. They compliment each other like a partnership should. In 4 the woman is carrying her own umbrella to be used later when she leaves him. 1 and 2 have obvious issues.

@redheadranting The female in the yellow one has her own umbrella yet fails to use it which I take to be a bit selfish on her part and maybe too macho on his.
