The Japanese course is BANGING! Patterns and connections galore, original framings/explanations abound... well, everything you have come to expect from Language Transfer & The Thinking Method! I still need A LOT of native speaker help though. Much of my work when course writing is 'field linguistics', broadly because of what is, un-ironically, termed as 'negative language transfer'. Those who write about language get very lost in the language they are writing and thinking in, in a way that is very difficult to unpick from the way they describe the target language. This work is kind of forensic in that sense, trying to separate one from the other. To get the key essential understanding I need, I need NATIVE JAPANESE SPEAKERS interested in getting to know more about their language through this experience, to dig deep with me on some of the most basic questions, and help me think about what's going on in Japanese and why.
