@KevEdwardsRetro So were people running C4D back then? Or were there SGI-specific applications for 3D rendering and animation?

@_El_Marc PC graphics cards hadn't become a thing at this point in time so an SGI plus very expensive software was the best/only way to create 3D content. However, when SGI crashed, the survivors formed 3Dfx and then went on to form nVidia. Rival PC graphics cards killed SGI!

This is what an early Ultra 64 DevKit look like before the workstation developer boards were made. It's an SGI Onyx with a RealityEngine graphics system. It was capable of much better graphics and higher resolutions than the Nintendo 64, but made a perfect 'emulation' system.
