“Marmalade” was previously legally defined as a preserve made from citrus fruits… The EU is loosening the definition so that other fruit spreads can also be called “marmalade” in some countries, like Portugal & Spain where the word is used more broadly. That’s it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Given that other countries make marmalade from figs & other fruit, it’s actually quite helpful to take the simple step of specifying that ours is citrus (orange or lemon). Most labels already say “orange” Hardly newsworthy, but of course the usual suspects want to stir things up

Only if you want to sell to the EU… and as most makers do they already label it as orange marmalade… this is utterly nonsense.,I have news for everyone complaining… anyone selling into the EU right now has to align with their regulations… no discussion, no negotiation. A relationship means we get to negotiate… which is better.
