Wokeism at its core is rooted in the idea of racial inferiority and superiority.
For example, it’s telling young black kids that because they are black, we have to lower the standards—that they wouldn’t be able to achieve things on their own. It’s effectively telling them they are inferior. That’s what wokeism is.
It’s also telling white kids that because their great-great-grandfather fought for the South in the Civil War, perhaps at the Battle of Marianna in Jackson County, he was some kind of evil man whose legacy we need to erase from history. That’s what wokeism is all about—relitigating the grievances of the past.
To end wokeism, I say this: let’s focus on the present. You’re an American, and I’m an American. You may be black, I may be white. You may be Christian, I may be Jewish. But at the end of the day, we are all Americans.
Even if you didn’t support President Trump in this election, know that he is fighting for all of us. And I think the biggest thing we need to embrace is faith. I’m an unapologetic Catholic, and I believe faith has an essential role to play in this.
Our Christian faith tells us that we are all created equal by one awesome God. If we put faith back in the classroom, wokeism doesn’t stand a chance."
