The circumstances surrounding this suck, but I ultimately think this was going to happen at some point anyway, and maybe it’s best to tear the bandage off now so we can all move forward.

While I think this sucks for a variety of reasons, I also think it was inevitable. Commander has so far outgrown its origins as a community-created format that was a respite from competitive play to become the primary way most people engage with Magic.

If I had complete, unquestioned control over the Commander format I wouldn’t change anything because Commander is great! I love Commander! Commander! Commander!

@James_LRR @CedricAPhillips I know that feeling. I feel wotc has concentrated on commander to the detriment of other formats, especially standard. The lack of year long planes has made standard rather difficult to track.

@CedricAPhillips It’s wild. And I’m not mad at it. But it often feels like it’s Commander vs. Everything else, and I don’t think that’s great for the game. Would love to find a path towards eliminating that feeling. Not a clue what that path looks like.

Came back to Magic almost exactly 14 years ago (PAX West 2010) and I gotta say, the biggest change that truly affects my day to day with this game is just how dominant Commander is. And how hard that is sometimes as someone who doesn’t enjoy the format :P

Thank you to all the Olympians that dedicate their lives to sports they make little to no money in so we can be entertained for 16 days every 4 years. You guys should band together and negotiate a piece of the billions NBC makes broadcasting your talents on television. I mean, NBC barely even mentions the sports that professionals make big money in during their primetime broadcasts. It’s pretty blatant. Why should NBC make billions off your talents without you getting a piece? Anyway, I hope the discipline, work ethic, resilience, and focus that were required to make it to the Olympics serve you well in future endeavors. For any of you out there looking to retire from sports, I am hiring for several positions at my commercial real estate company. Former professional athletes can do very well in CRE. As a matter of fact, I am interviewing a former professional baseball player this week!

A client accidentally double paid a $15K invoice recently. I called to let them know and said I would shred the check. They asked me to please mail the check back to them. I had to use ChatGPT to learn where to buy a stamp. I went to Walgreens, and they made me buy 20. I used 1 and threw the other 19 away. I then had to figure out how to get the envelope in the mail. I asked the property manager of our office building what to do. She took care of it for me. Not knowing how to send mail is a huge competitive advantage.
