I say this with no malice whatsoever… Keep watching and learning the game and then you will understand stoppage time is one of the smartest “rules” in all sports.
Jeremy@JeromeyR0me

As an American who watches soccer once every four years - I have never understood stoppage time. Why does the timekeeper get carte blanche on adding extra time and how come we don’t know exactly when the half will end? It feels so arbitrary and intentionally opaque

@Vfynn_ Now you know how Americans felt when our professional teams started wearing adverts all over their uniforms like European teams. We’re all comfortable with the way we sell ourselves to corporations, but don’t want to do it the way those other people do.

🚨🗣️New: Thierry Henry reacts to the USA vs Paraguay stoppage for TV commercials: “I’ve spent my entire life in this beautiful game — as a player at the highest level, as a fan, and now as someone who analyses it every week — and what unfolded during that USA versus Paraguay match left me deeply frustrated. The fourth official standing there on the touchline, arm raised high, instructing the referee to hold the restart… not for any injury, not for tactical reasons, and not even primarily for player hydration in that scorching heat. No. It was because the broadcast team hadn’t finished airing all their commercials. That’s not football. That’s a television show pretending to be a World Cup match. The beautiful game is being strangled by greed. Players are out there in the heat, ready to restart, momentum building like a storm about to break — and we pause everything so the sponsors can cash in. It’s like stopping a symphony mid-crescendo because the advertisers want their jingle heard. Football didn’t conquer the world by turning into American sports with endless timeouts and ad breaks. We had rhythm, flow, emotion that flowed like a river. Now? It’s dammed up for dollars. This isn’t about hydration or player welfare anymore — it’s a slippery slope where the soul of the game is sold piece by piece. Fans deserve better. Players deserve better. The referee on that pitch looked like a puppet on strings controlled from some broadcast truck. Enough is enough. We need to protect what made this sport the greatest on Earth before it disappears completely.” The World Cup should be football’s cathedral. Instead, we’re turning it into a shopping mall with a pitch in the middle. And here’s the question nobody wants to answer: if the fourth official is waiting for commercials, then who is really running the game? FIFA? The referee? Or the broadcasters? Because the moment football starts asking advertisers for permission before asking the players, you’ve crossed a line. The World Cup is supposed to be the showcase of football. Not the showcase of who paid the most for airtime.”

@ukbear03 Multiple high school games I was at this year, refs told the captains that making any 3 sign will be an automatic T. It was a point of emphasis in NC. I only saw one T given, but saw very few 3 signs.

If you call a T on a kid who gives the 3 point sign after making one, you probably don't need to be calling a HS region game.

@JoeTheShowQCSN UT coach should have called a TO. Even though they did not have 1 to call. Yes it would be a technical. Would have stopped the clock and would give u a chance at least at most down 3 and could force a 5 sec call or a TO.

@GrantDahlstrom Down 1, call a timeout you don’t have as soon as the ball goes in, clock stops, technical foul. Opponents take 2 free throws then have to inbound the ball with about 0:06 on the clock up by no more than three. Coach has to be smart enough to have thought through this.

@DNeckel19 @UVABasketball Love this one. I have found myself referring to difficulties as “painful gifts” since he said it. It’s amazing how gratitude refocuses us in trials and even personal failures.

@spartanannie MS game I was coaching this year: Ref signals a turnover as my player dribbles up court. Me: Did he carry? Ref: Moving screen Me: Got it. Who was the foul on? Ref: No foul. He didn’t touch him. Me: *confused look* Ref: You’ve never heard of a moving screen?

@elonmusk I believe number 1 (16 year old requirement for social media and age verification) should be the law of every land. Social media has long been a predatory business—addicting those too young to make adult decisions. The other 3 are a problem though.

HOLY CRAP!! Telegram just sent this message to all the users in Spain. The country is on its way to North Korean censorship. ❗️ The government of Pedro Sánchez is promoting new dangerous regulations that threaten your freedoms on the Internet. Announced yesterday, these measures could turn Spain into a surveillance state under the pretext of "protection." Here I explain why they are a red alarm signal for freedom of expression and privacy: 1. Prohibition of social networks for children under 16 years of age with mandatory age verification: This is not just about children - it requires platforms to use strict controls, such as requiring ID or biometrics. ⚠️ Danger: Establish a precedent to track the identity of EACH user, eroding anonymity and opening doors to massive data collection. What begins with minors could be extended to everyone, stifling the open debate. 2. Personal and criminal liability for platform executives: If "illegal, hateful or harmful" content is not quickly removed, those responsible could go to jail. ⚠️ Danger: This will force overcensorship—the platforms will erase anything minimally controversial to avoid risks, silencing political dissent, journalism and everyday opinions. Your voice could be next if you defy the status quo. 3. Criminalization of algorithmic amplification: Amplifying "harmful" content through algorithms becomes a crime. ⚠️ Danger: Governments will dictate what you see, burying opposing opinions and creating state-controlled echo chambers. Free exploration of ideas? Missing—replaced by curated propaganda. 4. Follow-up of the "hateful and polarization": Platforms must monitor and report how they "feed the division." ⚠️ Danger: Vague definitions of "hate" could label criticism of the government as divisive, leading to closures or fines. This can be a tool to suppress the opposition. These are not safeguards; they are steps towards total control. We have seen this script before—governments arming "security" to censor their critics. At Telegram, we prioritize your privacy and freedom: strong encryption, no backdoors and resistance to excess. ✊ Stay vigilant, Spain. Demand transparency and fight for your rights. Share this widely—before it's too late
