En un nuevo aniversario de su fundación, es bueno recordar que, aunque ni los propios libros sobre la historia del club lo digan, Boca nació gracias a que un irlandés (Santiago Fitzsimon) introdujo los juegos atléticos en la educación PÚBLICA -es decir GRACIAS AL ESTADO- y a que como rector del actual @ElPelleComunica ese mismo irlandés -a quien Boca nunca le rindió el homenaje que correspondía- llevó a dar clases de fútbol a ese colegio a otro irlandés (Paddy Mac Carthy), que jugaba con uno de sus hijos en @EstudiantesOK y fue quien les enseñó a jugar este deporte a tres de los cinco pibes boquenses que decidieron fundar un club en un banco de la Plaza Solís en 1905.

The answer is, is. But it highlights something interesting in modern football too. In England, for decades a football club announcement would be, "Aston Villa ARE delighted to announce ". Now, due to American ownership and influence, the same sentence would now be, "Aston Villa IS delighted to announce ". Is, in this context is actually grammatically correct as a football club is a unitary body ( in grammar although a club has many players, staff and supporters it's seen as unitary, 1, like a person, "Dave IS", not "Dave ARE") but form many Brits, ARE is still widely used. Check it out on club feeds. They'll mostly use "is".
