@SNAKETHROATTT ah well maybe it works differently in the US but here we either cut it ourselves or the server cuts it at the table for us and it’s not the norm to charge for it because people only bring cakes on the occasional birthdays etc and not every time they go out to eat

Cake cutting fees are standard fare at nice restaurants. When I worked as a pastry chef, we charged $16/person, which was the price of our cheapest dessert. You get to bring your cake in, the restaurant doesn’t lose money on dessert (and they cut and plate it for you, too).

@SNAKETHROATTT @toomuchFinesse it’s just a celebratory cake!! people are still coming to the restaurant to eat THEIR food. imo the goodwill you lose by charging exorbitant fees for simply cutting up a cake is way worse for business than a party taking up a table for like 10 extra minutes
