It's so tempting to use the easily available metric to judge a thing. @mononcqc gets into why counting alerts doesn't let you judge oncall health, but maybe is still a useful signal to track to augment analysis. honeycomb.io/blog/counting-…

I want to point out that there's always an element of "conferenceware." The part that @lizthegrey isn't saying is that @honeycombio's engineering team is preternaturally good at their jobs. They're significantly ahead of the curve.

I watch our AWS bill on a regular basis to ensure we keep things in check. I use the Cost Explorer for much of this, but I use @honeycombio to understand what's behind our Lambda bill. I wrote up a post on it to share how! honeycomb.io/blog/aws-costs…

I can’t even remember how many folks thought we were silly for entering “the crowded monitoring space”. We can say “no no, it’s different” till we’re blue in the face without visible effect, but now 7 years later the whole industry has recognized the shift. This is amazing.
