@jelly1710j My guess is that its spelling was changed when they arrived in America. Maybe it had ü in it somewhere so they wanted to make it fit the English alphabet. In German we write ü as ue on keyboards that dont have ü. It could have been Hüning but that too is a name ive never heard of
