I didn't watch enough minor league ball this season to offer any insights on prospects. But historically Bryan and I have aligned on probably 90% of rankings so I feel comfortable saying if this is his top 10, it would be my top 10 as well with maybe 1 exception.

And btw, the SP of last night’s game, Antonio Santos, has emerged as an incredible find by Cubs pro scouting dept (out of Mexican League this spring). Almost 28, he’s been a revelation, including 10 K’s last night. Up to 97/98 with a good change and solid slider. 29.5 K%. Legit.

I feel like last night’s Tennessee win might be the last time a AA-or-lower playoff game is won with pitchers exclusively born in the 90s.
(And they were all born pre-1998!)

Hints: 1993 was his only season with the Cubs. They had acquired him in the wake of the Florida Marlins expansion draft for Alex Arias and famed prospect flameout Gary Scott. This pitcher also had a 14 win season with the White Sox.

It was a big deal when Rich Hill came up with the Cubs. They'd gone 14 years without a LHP winning 10+ games, until he and Ted Lilly did in 2007. Hill was Cubs first homegrown LHP to accomplish it in 20 years (Jaime Moyer in 1987). I thought Hill would be a Cub for a long time.

Cubs can keep all 7 of their MLB/AAA Top 100 position players PCA, Busch, Shaw, Triantos, Ballesteros, Caissie, Alcántara and eventually turn team over to them as vets move on next 2 years. None are blocked.
But trading a couple to fill more immediate roster holes is also viable.

Cubs would need to make a serious assessment of his control issues before offering high value in a trade. Scott has suffered from control issues every season of his career except 2023. Was that a fluke? Or did he figure something out and are his early 2024 struggles correctable?

I'm in favor of acquiring Tanner Scott but I do find it comical that Cubs fans are so excited about it.
He's walked 14 in 13 IP, has 4 losses to go with his 4 saves (3 of which came w/3 run leads).
If Cubs had acquired him at end of ST fans would be clamoring to DFA him right now

More rough injury news in the early going for the Cubs. Suzuki to IL. Morel not at full strength. Saps a lot of the RHP. Canario likely platoons with Tauchman in RF. Will likely get some DH of Tauchman's vacated at bats too, but I assume Cooper and Mastro will see increased time.
