Im an @EFFSouthAfrica card carrying member, but I will not allow @Julius_S_Malema to insult general Mkhwanazi just because Mkhwanazi said he met malema through Khan. Why is Julius not insulting Sgt Nkosi who said he is influencing tenders in Tshwane, who sent you to insult general Mkhwanazi

Let me help you with a different perspective: Firstly, his tone is political, he is not only clarifying his position, he is also giving a political speech which is meant to engage with the crowd. Mkhwanazi never said he is concerned about Malema’s relationship with Khan, he said that he met Malema through Khan & this was not the first time that he said this. At the Madlanga commission he said that Khan had attended EFFs Gala dinner. Now let’s look at what the merits are here? The merits are that Malema and Khan know each other and that Mkhwanazi met Malema through Khan. Is that disputed by Malema in his speech? The answer is no, instead Malema supports this fact with additional information which completes the picture of how they met and for what reason they were meeting which is something that Mkhwanazi omitted. Secondly, Malema is being positioned as an influential politician meddling in the business of police both where Khan and Sibiya is concerned. So this can be viewed as blackmail because being positioned as somewhat “corrupt” or connected to the “corrupt” individuals is also a serious allegation. What does Malema do? He gives you context about his call with Sibiya so that you don’t cast aspersions. Nothing is pre-emptive because it is already something that has been put as fact both to the Ad Hoc committee and at the Madlanga commission. Malema therefore has right of reply. Malema is one of the very few politicians who absorbs pressure and faces it head-on with his truth. That’s exactly what he did today, he confronted facts and applied context, he didn’t deny a single thing that Mkhwanazi said but he corrected the manner in which it was put which has the effect of distorting the truth. Thirdly, Malema is asking that the EFF & himself not be drawn into battles that have nothing to do with them. He is trying to restore the dignity and confidence of the party and himself especially at this crucial time of campaigning for local government elections. It is important that things be clarified if they have the potential of damaging the EFFs image and his as the leader of the EFF. Lastly, Malema says Mkhwanazi must state these allegations in front of him so that they can engage on same. It is unfortunate that Malema was unavailable due to the death in his family when Mkhwanazi voiced this at the Ad hoc committee. So there is nothing gangster about saying you can engage in conversation with someone about something they have to say about you. Instead, that is a demonstration of your desire to be transparent.
Salt & pepper 🌶️@baltysb1

This is a classic political posture from Julius Malema, strongly loud, defiant, and clearly aimed at consolidating authority in front of his supporters. But once you strip away the rhetoric, there are a few important issues worth interrogating. Firstly, the tone. Calling Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi a coward while also dismissing his concerns as sensitivity shifts the conversation away from substance to personality. That’s often a political tactic attack the messenger, so you don’t have to fully engage the message. The real question is, What exactly is General Mkhwanazi saying, and is it being addressed on its merits, na? Secondly, the famous slogan we will not be blackmailed line. That’s a serious claim. If there is blackmail, it should be clearly stated and backed with evidence. Otherwise, it risks sounding like a pre-emptive defense against uncomfortable truths. Strong leadership isn’t just about rejecting pressure it’s about confronting facts transparently, even when they are inconvenient. Thirdly, when he says we are not ball boys, that plays well politically, especially with a base that values independence and defiance. But it also raises another question. Is this about maintaining political distanc or avoiding being drawn into accountability conversations that may have broader implications for hom and his personal club EFF? Finally, the claim that Mkhwanazi behaves differently in private versus public spaces. If that is true, it should be demonstrated with clarity because inconsistency matters. But if it’s not substantiated, it again becomes rhetoric rather than a factual challenge, so it borders on gangstarism tendencies.

I am not an EFF member but I support Mr Malema 100%. Commissioner Mkhwanazi whom I respect so much wanted to cast aspersion and leave the cloud hanging over Malema and his party during the critical time of elections. As politicians we shall not allow officials to play politics.

If you want to make an impact for one of the victims of farm attacks' families in South Africa- there is a BackABuddy campaign for Maria Makgato's four sons. Maria was one of the victims that was shot on a farm in Limpopo in August 2024 and her body was thrown to the pigs. Her sons receive a monthly amount directly from the BackABuddy campaign which covers their living and education expenses. Ranti, Maria's oldest son, takes care of his younger brothers. The BackABuddy detaills can be found here: backabuddy.co.za/campaign/suppo…

The Special Investigating Unit says it has found a disturbing reality where immigration documents are sold to the highest bidder through a syndicate working with Home Affairs officials. The SIU released an interim report into maladministration at Home Affairs on Monday following a tip off. Acting Head of the SIU Leornard Lekgetho says payments were made to officials and later documents were issued. He says those involved also include the spouses of officials who work at Home Affairs and that the investigation shows that the country’s borders were not protected. “Officials entrusted with safeguarding the integrity of the Department of Home Affairs instead turned their positions into profit-making schemes, while external actors, including Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, Mr Kudakwashe Mpofu, and Nigerian rapper Prince Daniel Obioma (also known as 3GAR), exploited influence, fabricated documentation, and manipulated systemic weaknesses to secure fraudulent residence permits. “The investigation reveals that the country’s borders were not protected by law but auctioned off through corruption. South Africa was being sold one permit at a time. The investigation into the affairs of Home Affairs was authorised by President Cyril Ramaphosa under Proclamation 154 of 2024. An interim report outlining the outcomes of our investigation has been submitted to the President, and we are now making the findings publicly available.”
