iPad kids, this one's for you. We’ve redesigned the tablet experience to feel way more like desktop. Here’s what’s new: → Collapsible sidebar with drag & drop → Inbox opens as a drawer → Favorite pages from the top bar → Cleaner page layout, with templates at the bottom → Full workspace settings Feels more familiar. Works like you'd expect. 💫

@christianmagill @NotionHQ Sorry for not coming back to you on that. 9-5 work has been crazy this week. I have a similar setup with Projects > Tasks > Notes that I think works. Let me take some time and give details tomorrow.

@underscode_ @NotionHQ I've decided to abandon sub-projects and handle phases with and additional layer of parent/child tasks. Ultimately I ran into problems forcing projects on new tasks in filtered views.

For my recurring tasks implementation in @NotionHQ I implemented a formula to generate a summary of when the task will repeat. Here I've used some 'patterns' I use in my Notion formulas. Check this thread to know more about how you can make long formulas better. 👇🏽🧵

@underscode_ @NotionHQ Oh wow definitely a great job!! I've seen many attempts but I gotta say this might be the best! The real question is is this available to download? I'm very impressed. I spend hours figuring out formulas at times but that right there is a different comprehension level 🎓

@underscode_ @NotionHQ I'm curious to see this in action if possible? Love the detailed outline and explanation, I know that took longer than anticipated!!

@christianmagill @NotionHQ Happy to help if you share your scenario. There might be ways to do it via filter formulas. Sometimes I create a Boolean formula that then I use in views as the single filter to enforce. It’s not optimal but it has helped me with some complex scenarios.

@underscode_ @NotionHQ Yeah, doesn't seem to be possible. Hopefully in the future it will be. Formulas would get me the data I need, but they can't be used against "This Page" filters in Customize Layout, so it wont work for my use case.

@christianmagill @NotionHQ You can have an automation/button with a Formula variable that fetches a list of items (e.g. Trigger Page.Tasks) and use that variable in an Edit Items block. I don’t think you can reference each item in a property to populate others. For that you can have a straight formula. No?

@underscode_ @NotionHQ Do you know by chance if you define a group of database items for an automation, and select that variable to edit pages, is there any way to reference the current item of the variable when editing a property based on a formula?

@underscode_ @NotionHQ Some good tips, helps to keep things organized. I tend to use concat and ternary operators. It keeps things pretty flexibile when building collections... for instance for field validation.

4. Finally, for text messages in formulas, I like to use 'templates'. A template is basically a string variable with some placeholders, than then get replaced later. Here, I use the same placeholders for all the templates and replace all of them -even if not present- at the end.

@underscode_ @NotionHQ I'd be looking at a low number of active projects. I'm not sure what affect it would have as emails are sent through Google's API. But even being able to schedule database items to be created per project would be useful.

@christianmagill @NotionHQ An alternative could be to set an automation to update a field every Friday, then have another automation triggered by that field edition that sends an email about the modified DB item. Not sure if Notion allows to trigger automations that way, last time I checked they didn't.
