Nigeria’s Worrisome Terrorism status The latest Global Terrorism Index report ranks Nigeria among the most terrorized nations in the world, showing one of the highest increases in deaths from terrorism. This is a painful indictment of failed leadership. While many countries are seeing a decline in terrorism, Nigeria is moving in the opposite direction. This trend is a direct result of misplaced priorities, weak governance, corruption, a lack of rule of law, and the persistent neglect of security, which is the government's most fundamental duty. From the insurgency of Boko Haram to the growing threat posed by the Islamic State West Africa Province, the crisis of kidnapping, and unchecked violence in our rural communities by heavily armed bandits, Nigerians are dying daily while those in power continue to feast. What is the purpose of government if it cannot protect lives? Why are we normalizing tragedy while other nations make progress? This is not the Nigeria we should accept. We cannot continue down this path. It is time to move from excuses to action, and from failure to measurable progress. A safe and secure Nigeria is not too much to ask; it is the right of every citizen, and it must be delivered. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Mr Peter Obi, Why sir? If you no shock, you go bothered If you no worry, you go Saddened With all what happened yesterday about the President visitation to UK, you didn’t pick any good news from there to share with your audience. All you can come up with today is worrisome. When are you going to send hope and happiness signal to your audience? Don’t you notice most of your followers has turned to narcissist? You have filled them with too much of negativity posts. Please you can do better sir!

Behind every statistic in that report is a mother who won't come home, a village that no longer feels safe, a child who grew up knowing nothing but fear. This isn't just a governance failure, it's a human tragedy unfolding in slow motion. Honestly, we deserve security, dignity, and a future free from violence. As these Numbers appear shocking; let's not forget there are faces behind them. 🤦

You’ve raised concerns that every reasonable Nigerian already feels nobody is happy about insecurity, nobody is celebrating loss of lives, and nobody is pretending things are perfect. But the way you’ve framed this tells a different story, one that leans more toward political desperation than genuine concern. First, terrorism in Nigeria did not start today. It didn’t start under this administration. For over a decade, Nigeria has battled insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping, issues deeply rooted in history, regional instability, porous borders, and years of accumulated governance failures. To suddenly package it as if it is a new phenomenon or a single administration’s creation is simply not honest. Second, the timing and pattern of some of these attacks cannot be ignored. When incidents spike around major national or international engagements, it raises legitimate questions. Nigeria is not operating in isolation, there are internal and external actors who benefit from projecting instability, especially at moments when the country is under global attention. To ignore that possibility is to be deliberately naïve. Third, quoting global indices without context is misleading. These reports aggregate data over time. They reflect long-standing structural issues, not overnight failures. You cannot inherit a decade-long security crisis and magically erase it in months. Progress in security is gradual, complex, and often invisible until it stabilizes. Fourth, it is unfair to suggest that nothing is being done. Military operations have intensified, intelligence coordination is improving, and there have been recorded successes, even if they are not amplified as loudly as negative events. Security work is not social media content, it is slow, strategic, and often behind the scenes. What is worrying, however, is the eagerness to weaponize tragedy. Turning national pain into political ammunition does not help the victims, does not support the security agencies, and certainly does not move the country forward. It only deepens division and emboldens those who thrive on chaos. Yes, Nigeria must do better, no argument there. Government must be held accountable, absolutely. But accountability should not be confused with distortion, and criticism should not become a tool for undermining the nation itself. At a time like this, what Nigeria needs is responsibility, not sensationalism. What we need is unity of purpose, not narratives designed to score political points or embarrass the country on the global stage. Because at the end of the day, insecurity is not a political trophy, it is a national tragedy. And treating it otherwise says more about the messenger than the message.

Honestly, reading all this just makes me tired. Not because it’s wrong, but because we have been saying the same things for years and nothing really changes. All this online outrage… it’s not translating to real impact. People are still dying, insecurity is still spreading. At this point, it feels like the problem isn’t just the government, but also how weak and scattered the opposition is. And that’s the painful truth.

@PeterObi This government obviously has failed Nigerians. The call everyone must answer is to ensure they do not crawl back into Aso Rock. It is a goal that must be achieved if what is left of Nigeria must remain.

Peter Obi can never support the @HQNigerianArmy, now or ever, he is a bitter soul that likes to praise terrorist activities and does not praise what our soldiers do at the battle front. He reports the bad deeds of the terrorists, but you will not find any post of his praising our boys at the fore front. Nigeria, does not need bad energy.

Despite all the victory videos from our military, this is what you have to say. You people do not applaud our military enough, always invalidating their efforts. This is not the way to go. Insecurity have been faced head on for the first time in Nigeria history and here you are spitting trash. Better go look for a party to contest in first cause you are nothing but a looser.

This reflects the frustration many Nigerians feel. When insecurity keeps rising while other countries are improving, it clearly shows something is not working. Protecting lives is the most basic responsibility of any government, and anything short of that is failure. The constant violence, kidnappings, and insurgency are not things people should get used to. It is unacceptable. Nigeria has the resources and manpower to do better, but it requires serious leadership, accountability, and real action, not just promises. We the citizens deserve safety, and it’s long overdue.
