for Ryland Grace's blanket there're couple things that worth pointing out - first there's a beckoning cat which in Japanese culture it's often believed to bring good luck to the owner. then the red and gold one, it looks like the Chinese word "囍" which means double happiness, it's commonly used as a decoration symbol of marriage, but it does extend to meaning good luck. and the rainbow which is of course the theme throughout the film, also seen as symbol of good luck. on the other side we got the four-leaf clover, according to tradition such clovers bring good luck. so it looks like the blanket serves as a token of blessing with the hope of bringing good luck to the owner and the mission.
