Athena's body was found two days later. Gandy's testimony came as part of the ongoing sentencing phase as Horner sat quietly as she spoke. A jury will decide his punishment.

Woman Wins $300K From Carnival After Fall Following 14 Tequila Shots. A 45-year-old neonatal intensive care nurse from Vacaville, California, walked away with a $300,000 jury award after suing Carnival Cruise Line over injuries she suffered aboard one of its ships. Diana Sanders was a passenger on the Carnival Radiance back on January 5, 2024, when she was served at least 14 shots of tequila over roughly eight and a half hours. She blacked out later that night and fell, ending up with a concussion, headaches, possible traumatic brain injury, back and tailbone injuries, plus bruising. Sanders filed the lawsuit in Miami federal court, arguing the cruise line's staff should have cut her off once it became obvious she was heavily intoxicated. The jury sided with her on that point, finding Carnival 60 percent at fault for not exercising reasonable care and supervising passengers who might put themselves in danger. They put 40 percent of the blame on Sanders herself. Carnival has already pushed back, saying in a statement that it respectfully disagrees with the verdict and believes there are grounds for a new trial or appeal. The company pointed out in court filings that Sanders didn't name a specific bartender or bar where she was overserved, and there were no reports of her stumbling or slurring her words at the time. For what it's worth, Carnival's own policy caps passengers at 15 alcoholic drinks in a 24-hour window. Sanders was right under that limit with her 14 shots, but her lawyers said the line still had a duty to step in.
