The Addenbrookes Air Disinfection Study is the first of its kind in the world. HEPA/UVC is installed on two wards at CUH examining any reduction to HAIs.

"In terms of efficacy, across both ward pairs, ACUs were associated with a non-significant trend of reducing ward-acquired SARS-CoV-2 infections (core study period: 10% lower hazard; Extended data: 22% lower hazard)." @EvonneTCurran sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Result from @AAirDStudy TLDR; - compliance issues, but there was still a signal that air cleaning units may reduce risk of SARS-COV-2 infection. Add this to other studies we know about and evidence is stacking up. #CleanAir

The clinical results of the Addenbrooke's air cleaning study have now been published in JHI sciencedirect.com/science/articl…. You can find out more at mrc-bsu.cam.ac.uk/news/new-evide…. Very pleased for all my colleagues who put in a lot of hard work. Well done. #Covid #COVIDisAirborne #SARSCoV2

@janestevenson68 @CliveBeggs That prior study was for 3 weeks, did not examine infections, and was conducted in a bay not an entire ward. AAirDS was conducted to examine whether reductions in bio burden seen previously translated into reduced infections over a longer, 1 yr timescale and larger spatial area.

The system is working as intended... This thread explains a lot on the covid horrorshow but will be ignored because it doesn't fit NPC narratives. In 2020 I said the official slogan should change to include VENTILATE. This never happened. One of the weirdest most interesting things on covid is the extreme resistance across bureaucracies to accepting it was mainly airborne therefore VENTILATION was critical You can see this in Ritchie's bullshit. And note she remains in charge. And obviously got an OBE. Many such cases... The system is working as intended

COVID INQUIRY I’ve posted a number of tweets from the Inquiry hearing on 16 Sept. This was the day that Dr Lisa Ritchie took the stand. She chaired the IPC Cell which wrote the Covid infection control guidance for UK hospitals. I’ve collated all the tweets in this thread 🧵

Great to see this first results report from @AAirDStudy out (main paper to follow). Important results. When we showed that HEPA cleared #Covid_19 from the air people said “just implement it, don’t study it” and we said “it’s important to see to implement it”. Well here we are👇

Pleased to have some of @AAirDStudy finally in print. TL;DR - ACUs were acceptable to older inpatients w mod noise disturbance reported. Compliance (ACUs on) reduced towards the end of the study. Compliance mirrored stringency of other IPC mitigations. journalofhospitalinfection.com/article/S0195-…

@contempl8ive @mjb302 @NHSEngland So "treading carefully" tried in vain, To prove its worth, but all was inane. For it never aspired, Nor took risks that inspired, And achievement, it never could attain. Fin/

@contempl8ive @mjb302 @NHSEngland For it failed to appease The bold and the brave, who employed. In life's grand dance, risks must be taken, For timid souls may find themselves forsaken. While caution has its place, To achieve a winning embrace, Boldness, too, must not be shaken.

The @AAirDStudy is also examining ABX use

As you know HEPA is least effective at particles of size 0.3um. Given the virus is 0.1um & has been shown to be stable in aerosols 0.3um in size 2 yrs ago we decided it was safer to have UVC.
