BTS Concert Ticket Scam Victims Report Losses Exceeding 1 Million Baht
Victims of an alleged BTS concert ticket booking scam submitted a complaint to People's Party MPs on June 11, saying losses exceeded 1 million baht.
The victims said they paid an X account offering ticket-booking services but never received tickets. After the account disappeared, affected customers formed a group and found that more than 1 million baht had been lost. Police reports have been filed.
Bangkok MP Kanphong Prayoonsak said the case reflects broader problems with ticketing scams, bots and weak identity verification. He said the House consumer protection committee would study measures including stricter KYC requirements, purchase limits and action against ticket-buying bots.
People's Party MP Karunpol Thiansuwan said he would discuss reforms with ticketing companies, including limits on ticket purchases and fairer ticket allocation. He said some concerts reserve only a small proportion of tickets for Thai buyers, contributing to shortages and scalping.
