What if topping your university meant doing it at 78?
At 78, Sushma Maughe from Indore secured Rank 1 in MA Marathi Literature and received a gold medal at the convocation of Devi Ahilya University.
As her grandchildren applauded, she quietly rewrote what retirement can look like.
A former music teacher with 40 years of service, Sushma never stopped being a student at heart.
Despite graduating in music, she later earned an MSc in Chemistry and, after retirement, began translating Hindi works into Marathi and writing books. Nearly a dozen of her books have been published.
She enrolled at 76 to formally study her mother tongue and went on to top the merit list.
Her message is simple. Life after retirement can still be a beginning.
