The Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly signed college UDFA Brandon Buhr, according to @slapschotts The 23-year-old was a force for Union College with 19 goals and 36 points in 35 games played this season. 6'2 with solid skating & puckhandling combo + good shot #LeafsForever

Second UDFA signing out of Union College for the Leafs after picking up John Prokop last season. Buhr played with former Leaf Fraser Minten back in the CSSHL on a team with Connor Bedard.

One of my top college free agents alongside Borgesi. That’s two to the Leafs org Buhr is a physical forward. Patrols play well and quick to take advantage of loose pucks. Should be a very well-rounded addition

Always interesting seeing comments like "Leafs don't have a strong prospect pool" while forgetting (myself included) you can also make NCAA/UDFA signings. I personally love that the Leafs added a 22 y/o offensively-minded RHD. By all reports, he's a good player.

When I started my second year of Journalism School, I was writing for the school newspaper. I avoided sports thinking I wanted to be a sportswriter so i'd wait to do stories in postgrad. But doing local news, I ended up enjoying it more than any sports work I had done.

If this is my final year doing draft related content, I'll make sure to make it my best. If not, I'll be working to get even better in the future.

Going back for final year in September, I've considered my January internship be at a news outlet to cover local stories instead of sports. It's tough because l've developed a brand as a sports person that is hard to shed. Maybe if I leave, I'll still do scouting, but for fun.
