Abike’s comment is well-intentioned but misses the bigger picture. Nigerians and other Africans in SA aren’t being targeted just for skin color many South Africans are angry about illegal immigration, competition for scarce jobs in a country with ~32-42% unemployment, and documented spikes in crime linked to some undocumented foreigners.

@jannygel @Funminz The thing is most care jobs pay minimum wage, which is the equivalent of 25k at a corporate 9-5. Is the OP saying people can’t get a 25k job and restart their career after ILR? Start as customer care in a bank, work your way into fraud / AML it will take less than 3 years.

You can pivot back to accounting and finance after 5years ILR, you just need to put in the effort.
For instance if you are an accountant and stuck in care job, get your professional qualification
Look for accounting firm or charity company to volunteer with.
Volunteering with charity wont take your time, maybe 10hrs a month.
Take some personal development courses to refresh your memories.
Doing all of these can still get you a £35k role per year…..it is doable if you plan it well

Might sound insensitive but crowdfunding 40m to straighten someone’s leg doesn’t make sense to me.
It is not a life threatening condition neither does the straight leg give any form of return or impact his earnings significantly.
For example, crowdfunding to give an athlete a leg surgery will save their career and give financial returns.
If it was 5 or even 10m, ok.
But 40m?
Especially in a country like ours where people are going through more severe health problems and need finances, it doesn’t make sense.
I don’t even want to go into this their so called miscommunication. Because there’s no way from first contact with the influencers to fund raising to surgery to his return, it wasn’t communicated that the operation was for one leg till today.

A lot of the girls dragging her for what she said aren’t earning similar salaries to their boyfriends or husband. Their b/h are probably earnings significantly more than them. In the UK the salaries are very similar, most people earn around 2500 - 3000 £ monthly so it’s expected.

First time I entered bus in Manchester, I saw an elderly man inside the bus with his wheelchair. I was thinking maybe he had aids commuting with him. When he got to his stop, he pressed the stop bell, moved his wheelchair and rode to the exit at the front. The bus driver made sure to stop close to the kerb. I was still wondering how he would get down because the bus was higher than the kerb. The next things, I saw the driver press a button and the bus lowered down to the exact level of the kerb and the man rode out with his wheelchair. Instantly, I cursed Nigeria like 7 times immediately. My head was all over the place. Highest level of consideration I’ve seen a society provide for its citizens.
