#HappyMothersDay Enjoy memories of my wonderful, intelligent, hard-working, lovable mother. She was also a great wife to my magnificent, adventurous father. 1914: Born in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. 1940: My mom had a dancing and drama school in Regina. Married my dad after meeting him when he came for ballroom dancing lessons. 1948: Kaye and I were called the flying twins because my parents flew us, as babies, around Canada and the USA. 1950: My mom packed us up and we moved to South Africa, as my dad loved exploring. My dad removed the wings of the plane and packed them in a cargo ship. After we arrived in Cape Town, he put the wings back on the plane, and flew to Pretoria with four children in the backseat of this single-propeller canvas Bellanca plane. 1954: They were co-winners of the Cape Town to Algiers rally. My mom used a compass as maps were scarce and mainly wrong. 1956: They are the only people to fly from South Africa to Australia in a single-engine plane, with only a compass. No GPS, radio or maps. My mom was the navigator and returned pregnant with my younger brother. 1957-1967: We were the only family to across the Kalahari desert for three weeks every July. My mom drove us in a station wagon for 110 miles in the Kalahari desert on a sand road that only the warden had used. My father’s motto was “live dangerously… carefully.” 1974: After my dad died, my mother took up painting, etching, linocutting, woodcarving and exhibited her work every week. She is also in the South African Who’s Who book of photographers. We didn’t know she had these talents. 2000: She returned to Canada at the age of 86 and continued working and selling her artwork. At 94, she started computer art. Retired at the age of 96. Passed away at 98. My mom set an inspiring example for her children and grandchildren. She would’ve liked this tribute to her. Also, I should be appreciated for the amount of time it took me to prepare this post 🥺😂😂

♥️♥️ Happy Mother’s Day! ♥️♥️
