@rhymes_melody I’m sure that’s part of it, too. One of my twin nephews calls his mom “mother” solely because he knows she hates it. 🤭

@BeUtifulEnigma7 So funny. Maybe it’s a thing with the youngest kid. Maybe they want to be different than their siblings 🤷🏻♀️
(Don’t tell, but I love it).

The next seven weeks are gonna be so hectic and downright insane. 😵💫 Please pray for me.

@rhymes_melody Yep! I really don’t even know what started it. My best guess is the age gaps are pretty significant.

@DerekPage672306 Thank you! We go way back. I appreciate you. ❤️

@BeUtifulEnigma7 I don't know what exactly it is your facing but I've known you long enough to know you got this sister 🙏❤️🙏😁

@dogwoodblooms @Liberty_Xtreme They stink to high heavens! But the tradition will outlive us all.

I got a lot of questions after I mentioned ramps yesterday. The most common: what are ramps? 🤣
Ramps are a type of wild onion/garlic widespread in Appalachia.
Native Americans introduced the plant to early Appalachian settlers. They not only used ramps in their dishes but also made spring tonics from them to treat colds and croup.
In WNC, ramps became really popular during the Depression. Folks foraged for them in early spring, fried them in bacon grease, and served them alongside eggs for breakfast or pintos for supper.
The tradition never died.
To this day, you can find festivals dedicated to ramps in the mountains.
At those festivals, you can taste ramps and hear older folks tell stories about young’uns being sent home from school for eating ramps for breakfast. They’re not telling tales—ramps have a pungent aroma that lasts for hours.
If you get curious and decide to forage for these delicacies, search in the early spring. And please make sure you leave several bulbs behind. These bulbs will go to seed, spread, and ensure the species survives. 🙏🏼❤️
