So let's say Thoracle is an issue and is therefore in every deck. Then Angel's Grace isn't a "dead" card as you can use it in the majority of games.

@Bernie_sa @playtowinmtg I know that. Why do I have to mention every edge case? It's not a deposition, it's a dialogue. It's a single use of the card, and yes, in it it is indispensable. Is Ad Nauseam combo in every single cEDH deck? No. Then why are you trying to make it a case?

@TizonaDelZid @playtowinmtg Deflecting swat is a form or counter spell. You said the colours had no counter spells. Banning Thoracle isnt going to change the interaction arms race. Blue will always have the best interaction. Banning Thoracle does nothing.

You keep advocating for good tools that aren't efficient/able to deal with Thoracle. It's a 3-mana combo for crying out loud. Flash was banned for a reason

@TizonaDelZid @playtowinmtg Meant red elemental blast. There's also deflecting swat if you have your commander out. Which is useful in red agro decks.

@Bernie_sa @playtowinmtg because it's completely useless outside the Thoracle scenario. It does NOT prevent loss from Breach + Brain Freeze combo, and if you think you can afford having a niche dead card in your cEDH deck, you lower the quality of your build.

@TizonaDelZid @playtowinmtg Then with Return the Favor you can either copy the Thoracle trigger and cast your own Demonic Consult|Tainted pact and win OR copy/redirect a counter spell. There are so many options for white.

@Bernie_sa @playtowinmtg Counter spells exist only in blue, and a couple of bad ones in red, other colors don't have sufficient tools for dealing with Thoracle. Angel's Grace is a bad card that does nothing; Return the Favor is at minimum a 3-mana card, and it does literally nothing to Thoracle.

@TizonaDelZid @playtowinmtg If you get a god hand, turn 2. And the free counter spells were in reference to having to work to get to resolve the Thassa. There are other turn 2 combos too and breach is far more popular.

@CourtJestCowboy @playtowinmtg It isn't a rare event. It's the biggest cEDH event on the west coast.. it had 295 players. The event you are comparing it to had 95.... If any one is cherry picking, its you.

@TizonaDelZid @playtowinmtg In cEDH where supposedly the problem exists.. You have to still work for the win. There's a lot of counter spells (0 to 1 CMC). Nevermind Angels Grace and Return the Favor.

@playtowinmtg And I think that having a 2-mana card that says "win the game out of the blue from an empty board" is ridiculous. Wincons have to actually make people work for them, and Oracle + Consultation is not working.
