As an American outsider who admires NZ, this is wild. Telling your daughter she can't say she's 'from New Zealand' unless she's Māori — she can only 'live in' it? That's not respect. It's turning national identity into a racial test. Born and raised in Christchurch = you're from NZ. Full stop. In healthcare training, focus should be on treating all humans equally, not policing language by ancestry. We’re all Kiwis in one country. This divides instead of unites. Your daughter is right to question it. People are People.

My 18 year old daughter is doing a Pre Health Diploma at the polytechnic in Christchurch. She’s been instructed that you shouldn’t say ‘you’re from New Zealand’ unless you’re Māori. You’re supposed to say ‘you live in NZ’. Wtf?!

John Maynard Keynes est l'homme qui a encouragé la pulsion la plus basse des politiciens, celle de dépenser l'argent qu'ils n'ont pas. Il a inversé la logique de l'action humaine. L'épargne était pour lui une fuite hors du système, quasiment impardonnable. Sauf qu'on ne peut consommer que ce qui a été produit. C'est un théorème économique indépassable. L'épargne n'est pas de l'argent qui dort, c'est la réserve de capital nécessaire pour investir dans des outils plus performants qui nous serviront demain. Keynes voulait donc forcer les gens à dépenser, quitte à manipuler les taux d'intérêts. Une idée folle, car lorsque l'intérêt est maintenu artificiellement bas par l'État, le capital n'est plus dirigé vers les projets les plus utiles mais vers des bulles spéculatives qui finissent tôt ou tard par exploser. "À long terme, nous serons tous morts", disait-il. Sa phrase la plus célèbre résume bien son idéologie irresponsable. Keynes a justifié toutes les arrangements monétaires et budgétaires à court terme au mépris des conséquences futures. Aujourd'hui, l'économie mondiale est une pyramide de dettes que personne ne peut rembourser.
