Your colleagues do not owe you the social engagement you need to feel connected to other people. Their job duties do not include caring for you. Working together, collaborting, and producting a net positive outcome together can be done across any modality. Work is not family.

Published an op ed in @nytimes: remote work hurts mental health. Let me explain why 🧵⤵️

@Longshoe @five_takes The most telling thing is to look at the stats on possession/momentum post-break. There is absolutely an effect of the breaks that is not reflective of how the game is typically played. The effect could be +/-, but it isn't 0, and $ disparity in hydration/tech coaching ramps it ^
English

@five_takes It’s been a great tournament on the field and I think they breaks are part of why.
English

Not everyone is just "complaining". The breaks change the game. Could that change lead to more exciting games? Perhaps. Should it have been tested in some lower leagues before a World Cup for a first try? Yeah that seems reasonable. Woulnd't be so quick to dimiss the complaints.
Jason Longshore@Longshoe
I get that it's the cool thing to complain about and boo the hydration break, but I don't think it's an accident that this is the highest scoring World Cup since 1958. It's making the games better IMO. And the booing then turning into a singalong with Country Roads is funny.

@GeauxGabrielle What if you do 10k year-around with an additional 'top up' 10k that previous awardees could apply for?
English

One of our donors and I had a meeting yesterday and they are willing to extend and increase their six figure funding to us for The Perry Second Chances Scholarship but they gave us a choice.
Do we increase our annual scholarship from $10K per winner to $20K
OR
Run $10K scholarships year round.
I don’t really know what to do to be honest.

I love this way too much as a way to compare...

Raúl Jiménez's story is truly unbelievable. In 2020, he suffered a skull fracture against Arsenal that almost cost him his life. He went through a long recovery, and despite the risks, he chose to return to the pitch.
Today, 6 years later, he scores for his country at the World Cup inside the legendary Estadio Azteca. Football had something special in store for him 🇲🇽🥺

The World Cup begins tomorrow, and many will watch the matches. Soccer reminds us of something we must not forget: life is not a race to show off on our own, but a path we learn to walk together. Anyone who does not know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, has not yet understood the game. Anyone who does not know how to live with and for others has not yet understood life. #ApostolicJourney
